Dedicated to the creation, production and distribution of content, Imaginove's actions are driven by an analysis of the major trends in the entertainment : VOD, videogame on line, mobile telephones, multimedia players, use-generated contents, etc.
The Rhône-Alpes Imaginove Cluster supports videogames, cinema, audiovisual and multimedia activities. Our region represents 650 companies, 23 research laboratories, 28 image-related training courses, plus international events such as the Game Connection, Annecy's International Animated Film Festival, Cartoon Movie and the Serious Games Sessions.
Imaginove's missions
– To develop cross media convergences of the image industry's various sectors (video games, cinema, audiovisual, animation and multimedia) and thereby increase the competitiveness of the Region's products in terms of creation, production and distribution.
This calls for a complex cross-media approach to cater for differing cultural and economic contexts. But the market trend shows that these companies have much to share by, for instance, creating universes that are disseminated via TV and the Internet and also in video games.

– To stimulate the sector by unifying the public/private approaches and bringing its different players together: companies, laboratories, training centres, etc.

Imaginove encourages research and development projects that involve several image-industry companies and research laboratories (the LIRIS, the INSA, the CEA LETI, the IMAG, the Universities of Savoie and Saint-Étienne, etc.).
70 R&D projects were approved for the sector overall in a three-year period. The preferred research topics are productivity, Serious Games, interactivity and interoperability.

The Imaginove Cluster also assists companies with their business development through different programmes based on advisors and financial assistance.

Employment – Training
The image industry is characterised by the creation of value generated by the talents within it. Action to develop professional competence and skills in the Rhône-Alpes Region is thus essential to underpin the companies' projects and competitiveness.
Imaginove Compétences grew out of this perception. This facility provides access to focused training and offers companies support on competence-related issues.
Each year, the Region's companies avail themselves of more than 1,000 hours of training under this scheme.
Imaginove also intends to attract new talent to Rhône-Alpes and retain it. With this objective in mind, the Cluster has equipped itself with the web site www.talents.imaginove.com

IMAGINOVE: concrete results
- Each year, 20 to 30 research projects involving academic labs and SMEs are built.
- 100 commercial innovation and international development projects.
- approval of 10 new initial training courses. For example: Gamagora (video games school).
- More than 1,000 hours of training organised by Imaginove Compétences each year.
- Concrete support for companies at around fifteen exhibitions and international trade fairs: Game Connection, MIFA, MIP TV and MIP COM, Game Convention (Leipzig), GDC (San Francisco), Tokyo Game Show, etc.
- Organisation of professional conferences in conjunction with MIFA
- Organisation of technological conferences, including the Game Developers Conference (GDC) which drew more than 450 participants in partnership with the Parisian Cap Digital Competitiveness Cluster.
- The establishment of several companies on our territory: Kalmeo (mobile), SDI Media (sound and localisation), Pinka (animation), Caribara (animation), etc.
