Imaginove in Shanghai !

June 15, 2010, Shanghai - the Rhône-Alpes Region of France, a primary exhibitor of the Urban Best Practice Area (UBPA) for Shanghai Expo, was launched the Image Industry thematic week in presence of Farida BOUDAOUD, vice president in charge of the culture and the fight against discrimination in Rhône -Alpes. Leveraging the Shanghai International Film Festival, the Image week introduced to China the most dynamic and innovative industry in Rhône-Alpes Region, the image industry and 3D technologies. Organizer of the week, Imaginove from Rhône-Alpes Region has arranged various seminars, events and film projections, both inside and outside the Rhône-Alpes pavilion. Meanwhile, Imaginove and ERAI (Entreprise Rhone-Alpes International) signed a memorandum of understanding with Shanghai Multimedia Industry Association (SMIA), regarding the cultural cooperation of digital image and multimedia between Shanghai and Rhône-Alpes Region.

Imaginove is a non-profit organization from Rhône-Alpes Region and is working on promoting the strong and competitive moving image industry in this region, including some 650 companies, 23 research laboratories and 28 programmers oriented toward this industry. Imaginove and SMIA are in contact for a project organized for the exhibition in Shanghai Expo. Then, they decide to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in order to build concretes projects in common for their own members. Ludovic Noel, CEO of Imaginove, indicates that, “Imaginove is developing its global scale network by concentrating on key regions, such as Europe, North America and Asia. We already have partnership in South Korea and wish our cooperation with SMIA will further our connections with China. Shanghai offers a strong opportunity to enter on the Chinese market and Lyon, a right place to enter on the European Market.

ERAI (Entreprise Rhône-Alpes International), an initiative by the Rhône-Alpes Regional Council created in 1987, spearheads the Regional Council’s economic development action on the international stage, and also works to increase the appeal of the region for foreign businesses.
